The new 8-person Almbahn takes you from St. Michael to the 2,200 metre high Aineck, with views of the Hohe Tauern and the Nockberge. At the top a network of mountain walks begins and the Almspielplatz is located. In bad weather the gondola does not run.

The new 8-person gondola, the Almbahn, takes you to the 2,200 metre high Aineck, with panoramic views of both the Hohe Tauern and the Nockberge. It is a suitable starting point for mountain walks. The Almbahn also makes the Almspielplatz easy to reach, for young and old.

In bad weather the cable car does not run. Dogs and bicycles are not carried.

What visitors say

A German travel blogger who has been here several times uses the Bergbahn mainly as a starting point: up to the Aineck at just over 2,200 metres, and then a circular walk across mountain pastures and past a reservoir with an alm along the way. She allows about three to three and a half hours for that. At the top there are a mountain restaurant, a playground and a wide view towards the Hohe Tauern and Nockberge. Anyone who only takes the gondola up and goes straight back down is finished quickly.
