The Salzburger Landes-Skimuseum in Werfenweng documents skiing from its beginnings, some 5000 years ago, through to competitive sport and present-day technology. The Salzburger Landes-Skimuseum shows the development of skiing, from its beginnings to the latest technical developments of the present day. Temporary exhibitions address current topics in skiing. The museum has a well-ordered archive for ski and alpine culture, in which valuable items from the history of skiing are kept and the entire development is documented. Historical and new ski films as well as competition documentaries and broadcasts are shown regularly in the events and lecture hall.

A small museum showing the development of the ski, from snowshoe and Scandinavian means of transport to competition equipment, with winning skis of well-known Austrian racers. Visitors find the collection surprisingly rich for the size of the building and the layout easy to follow; the personal involvement of the keeper, who built up the collection personally, is often mentioned. For children there is a workshop where they make a ski themselves the way it was done a hundred years ago. Anyone with little interest in skiing or ski history will probably take less from it.
