The Franzenshütte in Thomatal is one of the most important sites of mining history in Austria. At the smelting furnace complex in Bundschuh it is shown how ore was extracted from rock and processed, from mining through to steel and finished product. The Knappen-Wanderweg leads from there to the former extraction area.

At the smelting furnace complex in Bundschuh visitors learn how ore was extracted from rock. The Knappen-Wanderweg leads from there directly to the extraction area. The exhibition takes visitors back to the nineteenth century through the sections mining, ore processing, smelting furnace, steel and products, with looking, touching, listening and explanation.
