What visitors say
The guided tour lasts about fifty minutes and takes in the Grosses Festspielhaus, the Haus für Mozart and the Felsenreitschule, including the foyers and a look at and behind the stage. Participants describe it as dense with information and surprisingly technical in nature: the stage that is cleared in twenty minutes, the steel fire curtain, the hydraulically retractable seating in the Felsenreitschule. It is not necessary to be an opera enthusiast to get something out of it, but this remains a working theatre, so during rehearsals or set-up the tour is moved or cancelled. Responses to the Haus für Mozart are the least enthusiastic; it is considered the weakest architecturally.
- · Assume that it may or may not go ahead: rehearsals and technical work take priority.
- · Tickets are only sold shortly before the start at the Festspielshop, so be there well in advance.
