What visitors say
The tour goes through a genuine medieval mine tunnel with narrow passages and steep stairs and covers some 50 metres of height difference; it is not a polished show mine but an authentic system, in which the marks of hand-worked extraction are still visible. Inside the mountain it is a constant seven to eight degrees, pleasant on hot days and otherwise simply cold. The guides are volunteers from the museum association and explain things understandably, including for children. The highlight is the Barbarastollen, where the ore still glitters in the walls.
- · Take a jacket, also in summer: inside it is around 7 degrees.
- · Allow about an hour, with stairs and low, narrow passages.
