In the Fronfeste in Neumarkt the original cells from the end of the seventeenth century can be seen, with gallows and instruments of torture. The museum revolves around the themes of Romans, leather and jurisdiction, and a great deal may be tried out and touched. In the Kramerey an old village shop has been rebuilt, with regional and handmade products.
- Trying things out and touching them is expressly intended here
The jurisdiction and the criminal history of Neumarkt are attested in the Fronfeste by, among other things, the original cells from the end of the seventeenth century, with gallows and instruments of torture. The museum works with programmes around the main themes of Romans, leather and jurisdiction, in which visitors may be active themselves, may try things out and touch them, and can find something new again and again.
There is also the Kramerey, where home-made and handmade goods can be found, from culinary specialities to craft work. The furnishings come from various Kramereien that existed in Neumarkt until 1978 and moved from the depot to the Fronfeste. As in earlier times, the shelves and sales counters are filled with regional and handmade products. The regional economic traffic of the past and the return to such small cycles are central to this.
