Schloss Seeburg

Schloss Seeburg consists of a main building of four storeys, a castle chapel and a defensive wall with four round corner towers. The castle was thoroughly renovated in 1999. During that renovation, historic sections of wall from the medieval structure were uncovered in the courtyard. Baroque painting was discovered in the plinth section of the wedding hall: a bust of a ruler painted in 1755, with festoons of fruit on either side, has been restored, and with that the plinth decoration running around the room has been documented.

Schloss Seeburg is known for civil and church weddings. The celebration afterwards can take place in the castle restaurant, the banqueting hall on the first floor, or at one of the hospitality businesses in Seekirchen.

The castle now houses the Standesamt and the Privatuniversität Schloss Seeburg. In 2014 the SchlossKRÄUTERgarten was laid out, one of the twelve herb gardens of the Salzburger Seenland. Next to the herb garden stands a swinging lounger. Around the Seeburg there are also a kaleidoscope, a station of the Seenland Pilgerrunde, a pirate ship as a children's playground and a Kneipp facility with a treading pool and two arm baths in the lower part of the grounds.

The meadows around the Seeburg are rich in species and attract many bees, butterflies and beetles. That richness in species is maintained because the meadows are mown and fertilised only twice a year.

The interior of the Seeburg cannot be visited.
