The Salzachklamm near Golling lies a few steps from the Pass Lueg and is more than 80 metres deep. The flowing water has carved large potholes into the rock faces, and in the section called the Dom the walls seem to close above you. The gorge is accessible daily from May to October.

From the nearby Pass Lueg it is only a few steps to the wildly romantic gorge Salzachöfen. The breakthrough between the Tennengebirge and the Hagengebirge, cut into Dachsteinkalk, is more than 80 metres deep. The rock faces hold numerous large potholes, formed by the swirling water. In the section called the Dom the rock faces seem to close completely. The gorge is accessible daily from May to October.

What visitors say

The Salzachöfen is a gorge up to 90 metres deep where the Salzach squeezes through a passage a few metres wide; a stepped path with handrails runs alongside it. Visitors mention above all the so-called Dom, where you squeeze between the rocks to a stone viewpoint above the churning water, and the fact that it is noticeably quieter there than in better-known Austrian gorges. The route is narrow and in places slippery and dark, so it is not suitable for pushchairs, for people who are unsteady on their feet or for anyone in flip-flops. Allow about an hour for the walk.
