- Indoor museum of 1400 m2 with about 200 objects
On 1400 m2, Helmut Vötter has made room in his museum for vehicles that shaped people's lives in the 1950s to the 1970s. Thirty years ago it all started with a BMW Isetta, the basis of the later collection. After that many vehicles were bought in poor condition and made roadworthy again with a great deal of work.
Throughout the year about 200 exhibits can be seen: cars that your parents may have driven themselves, motorcycles, tractors, a steam locomotive from 1893 and everyday objects such as films and furniture from earlier times.
What visitors say
Private collection in the basement of a hotel, with cars, motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and tractors. Visitors are predominantly positive about the size and the condition of the vehicles, and about the fact that such a thing is not expected underneath a hotel. The standard criticism: it is packed and cramped, so that it is not possible to walk round everything properly, and the labelling is largely in German. Allow about an hour; it is a good bad-weather option, but it is cool inside.
- · Allow about an hour
- · Bring something warm, the cellar rooms are cool
- · Anyone who does not read German misses part of the information beside the vehicles
