The Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen and the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg lead to the Wildkogel walking area at about 2,100 metres in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Walking routes start from both top stations, some of them suitable for prams, and along the Panoramaweg there is a Rutschenweg with ten stainless steel slides. At the Smaragdbahn a four kilometre mountain cart route down the mountain also begins.

The Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen and the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg lead into the extensive high-altitude walking area Wildkogel at 2,100 metres, in the heart of the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Many walking routes start at both top stations, some of them suitable for prams. With the guest card, buggies and child carriers can be borrowed free of charge at the tourist offices.

It is therefore a good starting point for walks along the Zirbenrundweg, the Wildkogel Seenrundweg, the Smaragdbahnweg or the Panoramaweg. The last of these begins at the top station of the Wildkogelbahn at 2,091 metres and runs past viewpoints to the middle station at 1,644 metres. The Rutschenweg connects there, with ten stainless steel slides of 22 and 53 metres in length. From the end point at Gasthof Stockenbaum it is about 45 minutes on foot along the Adler Toni walking path to Neukirchen.

The Smaragdbahn takes visitors up to the mountain cart route. The way down covers four winding kilometres on three-wheeled off-road carts.

What visitors say

In summer the gondola is used mainly as the starting point for the Rutschenweg from the middle station: ten stainless steel slides with short walking sections in between. Visitors call this layout clear and safe, but point out that the path is steep and not suitable for small children without walking experience; sliding on your own is only permitted from 1.30 metres, and younger children are sometimes startled by a slide. Allow two to three hours for the whole Rutschenweg. Serious walking also starts from the mountain station, such as the route over the Frühmesser to the Steinkogel, where the last section is secured with ropes and ladders and sure-footedness and a head for heights are needed.
