Summer cable car from Bramberg in the Wildkogel-Arena, in the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern region. From the mountain station the mountain cart route descends over four winding kilometres on three-wheeled carts, and the Smaragdbahnweg leads to the middle station. At the mountain station of the Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen are the playground Abenteuer-Arena Kogel-Mogel and the Rutschenweg with ten slides.
- The mountain cart descent is four kilometres long
- The Rutschenweg has ten slides from 22 to 53 metres
- From Gasthof Stockenbaum it is about a 45-minute walk to Neukirchen
The Wildkogel-Arena lies in the holiday region Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. The Bergbahnen Wildkogel have been awarded the title of mountain specialist for families and are among the best Austrian summer mountain lifts.
Next to the mountain station of the Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen lies the Abenteuer-Arena Kogel-Mogel, a large wooden playground with an eagle's nest, a marble run, a Goliath swing and more. There is also a large trampoline.
From the mountain station at 2,091 metres the Panoramaweg leads to the middle station at 1,644 metres. There the Rutschenweg begins, with ten stainless steel slides from 22 to 53 metres long, one of them with a free fall. From the end point at Gasthof Stockenbaum a quiet walking path leads down to the valley near Neukirchen in about 45 minutes.
The mountain cart route begins at the top: up with the Smaragdbahn from Bramberg, down over four winding kilometres on off-road three-wheeled carts. There are other ways to descend from the mountain station of the Smaragdbahn as well; one suggestion is the Smaragdbahnweg, which runs to the middle station of the Smaragdbahn.
What visitors say
In summer the ride goes up in two stages to just over two thousand metres; halfway there is a change, which reviewers describe as quick and well organised. At the top the panorama path towards the middle station begins, as does the mountain cart track down; by the top station there is a hut with a large sun terrace that is rated well. Many reviews are in fact about the winter and the toboggan run, and the number of explicit summer accounts is limited.
- · Allow for a change at the middle station; the ride does not go up in one go.
