- Once a week a torchlight walk with musical accompaniment
The Seisenbergklamm in Weißbach bei Lofer was formed about 12,000 years ago, at the end of the last ice age. In 1831 woodcutters built a raft path through the 600-metre gorge. Today the natural monument can be seen in about an hour on well-built walkways.
As the gateway to the Naturpark Weißbach, the Seisenbergklamm is a suitable starting point for walks. Stops of the ALMErlebnisBUS lie directly on the route. Once a week there is a torchlight walk with music by Weisenbläser.
The Klammgeist makes the walk interesting for children as well: at several points along the route he explains things about nature and the environment.
What visitors say
The gorge itself takes about three quarters of an hour on wooden walkways and stairs; with the forest loop back, the walk is closer to two hours. Reports describe the path as well maintained but wet and slippery in places, and the narrow walkways in the darkest section make an impression. The way back through the forest is considerably less spectacular than the way up. Pushchairs and wheelchairs cannot get through.
- · Wear shoes with grip; the walkways and stairs are often wet.
- · Allow about two hours if you walk the loop back, not three quarters of an hour.
- · There are several paid car parks, including one right by the entrance.
