Stiegl is the largest private brewery in Austria and shows in the Brauwelt how beer is made. The interactive museum covers more than 5,000 m2 and has, among other things, a brewhouse, the bottling plant and its own brewing cinema. On the site there are also a beer restaurant, a beer garden and a shop.
- The wheel of fortune in the Braushop is spun every Friday
Experiencing beer in the Brauwelt
The beer can be seen taking shape in the modern brewhouse, and at the bottling plant it is possible to watch 90,000 bottles of Stiegl beer being filled every hour. The interactive museum covers more than 5,000 m2 and has its own Stiegl brewing cinema.
Rooms for eating and drinking
In the Bräustüberl and the beer garden a broad choice of Stiegl beer specialities stands alongside Austrian dishes, in a setting that suits a brewery. The Paracelsusstube is the restaurant of the Stiegl-Brauwelt and serves traditional Austrian cuisine. In the Stieglitz, beer cocktails and national and international beer specialities can be tasted and bought.
The Braushop
The Braushop stocks beer accessories such as shirts, sunglasses and glasses, plus seasonal products. Every Friday the Stiegl wheel of fortune is spun, on which up to 100 per cent discount on the purchase can be won.
What visitors say
This is emphatically a museum about beer and not a tour through a working brewery; anyone wanting to see the production and the bottling plant has to come on a weekday. The tour itself is described as brisk and interactive and ends with a tasting of a few small glasses. There is criticism of the restaurant, which is rated as mediocre, and of the fact that the site feels somewhat impersonal for a solo visitor. The overall picture in the reviews is clearly positive.
- · Come on a weekday if you want to see the production; otherwise the visit stays limited to the museum part.
- · There are shorter and longer tours; only the longest one includes the production.
